My Mission

I want you to get the most out of your life. It is my goal to have all clients achieve an optimal level of health and energy so they can accomplish their goals and mission in life (no matter what it is). I strive to deliver the highest quality personal training and up-to-date health information, but I don't stop there. I challenge clients to go deeper and start thinking beyond exercise and food. As an end result, people can achieve transformation. I love hearing from clients how they gain the ability to do "things they never dreamed of doing again".

I am 76 years old. I have trained under Jason Cornish almost three years. I started with personal training because of continuous back pain. I’ll state this about Jason: He is good. He knows how to evaluate my problems and work with me. I am considerably better. It is about more than my back, everything works together.

Welcome to my about page. If you made it this far you are probably asking, "who is this Jason Cornish personal training guy"? Well I am a pretty normal person. I enjoy a good days work followed by fun, friends, good food and family time. Over a decade ago I got married and currently have one daughter (who you may see on social media sometimes as my little fitness model and helper).

Ever since my first few months as a trainer I have had a passion for providing the best quality of training and health coaching. It became clear early on in my career as a fitness professional that getting great results for clients was NOT going to come from merely following traditional exercise ideas and healthy eating plans. The large majority of every client that I worked with had at least one major disease or orthopedic issues that was holding them back. In time, I became very good at helping clients overcome their great health challenges which allowed them to truly get back into the game of life. This drive largely came from my own experience with injury and illness.

Chronic Pain Sucks

IMG_3223.JPG

I have had chronic back pain in my lumbar spine and upper back since I was 14 years old. Both of these injuries came from athletic accidents. To top this off I tore my ACL (a knee ligament) my first year in college. Tragically, the doctor that did my reconstructive surgery messed up in several different ways. To fix one of his mistakes, he inserted my new ACL as tight as he could. This unnatural tightness caused all my cartilage on the back of my knee cap  to friction burn off over a couple years. Yikes.

Many years later, I decided try to get a working knee (and leg!) back again. After thoughts of micro-fracture surgery, attempts at using autologous (from yourself) stem cell injections, platelet-rich plasma, and many other ideas I finally decided to try a lesser known surgical procedure: autologous chondrocyte implantation. It was a two part surgery that would restore the cartilage in my knee. Luckily, the procedure was a success.

Sadly, I almost DIED 3 weeks after the surgery....

After the surgery I was given prescription opioid pain killers to take for 3 weeks. After being on these meds for about three weeks several systems in my body (gut, liver, kidneys, brain) broke down. I lost 25 pounds and became close to death due to several of my organs malufuntioning. It took 3 years and A LOT OF EDUCATION AND EFFORT to restore my health to its current state.

These hard life experiences have given me a tremendous amount of compassion and knowledge to help others. My "secrete sauce" as to why I can help so many people with their health challenges whether it be orthopedic, autoimmune, or otherwise comes from the fact that I have a large amount of book knowledge AND personal experience in healing a broken body.

I am 72 years old and have trained with Jason for four months. He has helped me significantly with diet, exercise, home air and water quality, and overall health and well-being.

I hired Jason to work with me because I had extreme back pain from disc issues and spinal stenosis, as well as arthritis. Jason has helped me work through the worst of my pain and has shown me how to manage and virtually stop my pain through exercise and changing my ways of sitting and doing my routine tasks. I have regained my strength and vitality through the work and life habits he has taught me. I endorse his expertise in crafting an individualized health and fitness program for anyone, especially seniors.

This is the most important fact that I have learned:

Your solution is out there. If you don't understand why you have chronic joint pain, can't lose weight, or your body is broken you will likely settle for your current state of health and think "it's just old age" or "medications to manage is normal" or "I have already tried everything". It is rarely easy or simple, but I hope you can remain open to the possibility of getting freedom and vitality back in your life. If you would dare to hope and keep going you will likely find your solution, get your fitness back and start living fully.
